Cuban-Americans. Version 2.0
/I get compliments on my kids. People say they are charming and handsome and pretty and funny and well-mannered and talented and smart. I always say, "thank you," and secretly take a bow. (as if I could really take credit for their accomplishments - I'm not that delusional)
For the most part, I'm still in "active parenting" mode. I'm very aware of the awesome responsibility I have to God and the world to raise decent human beings. I take my job as Mom very seriously. Although with Amy & Adam I prefer to think of myself as their "life coach" (thanks, Victoria, for that).
When the parental compliments come, I'm usually surprised because really, I think all those things about them are true. Don't tell them, though. I have to keep my poker face intact.
