I'm Going to LA for The Queen of Katwe and ABC Television Events. Pinch me.

I have so much to share, I barely know where to start...

I recently received an invitation from Disney to participate in a Whirlwind of Awesomeness for a few days next week. From September 19th through the 21st, I will be having ALL the fun along with 24 other amazing bloggers.

First, we will be screening the much anticipated Queen of Katwe (in theaters everywhere on September 30th). I just finished reading the book and just loved it.

It's a film (based on the book) about Ugandan chess prodigy, Phiona Mutesi, who went from being impoverished on the streets of Uganda, to being the first female Ugandan chess champion. Though her life is marked by the tragedy of losing her father and sister, she eventually meets chess coach, Robert Katende, who will change her life forever when he teaches her how to play chess.

Queen of Katwe is in theaters September 30! Queen of Katwe is the colorful true story of a young girl selling corn on the streets of rural Uganda whose world rapidly changes when she is introduced to the game of chess, and, as a result of the support she receives from her family and community, is instilled with the confidence and determination she needs to pursue her dream of becoming an international chess champion.

The film stars Oscar Winner Lupita N'yongo (12 Years a Slave, Star Wars: The Force Awakens) as Phiona's mother, Harriett Mutesi. David Oyelowo (Selma, The Butler) plays Robert Katende. And newcomer, Madina Nalwanga will play the rold of Phiona Mutesi.

I'm out-of-my-skin excited to be interviewing many of the cast as well as the actual real-life people depicted in the story. My interview list looks like this:

  • Lupita N’yongo (Harriet Mutesi)
  • Madina Nalwanga (Phiona Mutesi)
  • David Oyelowo (Robert Katende)
  • Martin Kabanza (Phiona’s brother “Brian Mugabi”)
  • Phiona Mutesi
  • Robert Katende
  • Mira Nair (Director)

I will also be walking the Red Carpet for the premiere at the fabulous Disney El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood. I know. Shut up. (Full disclosure: I'm also seriously freaking out about what I will wear on that Red Carpet, but that's not important right now.)

As if that wasn't enough, I will also be visiting the sets of ABC's The Middle and the new ABC sitcom, American Housewife. I don't know too much about what to expect on the set visits, but here's a trailer for American Housewife:

Katie Otto (Katy Mixon, "Mike and Molly"), a confident, unapologetic wife and mother of three, raises her flawed family in the wealthy town of Westport, Connecticut, filled with "perfect" mommies and their "perfect" offspring. Subscribe: http://goo.gl/mo7HqT

And The Middle!

Of course, Patricia Heaton is The Most Real Mom Ever in The Middle, now entering its 8th season on October 11, 2016. Excited to see what's in store there. Here's a sneak peek:

The Middle is moving to Tuesdays. The Middle Season 8 premieres Tuesday October 11th at 8/7c on ABC. Subscribe to tvpromosdb on Youtube for more The Middle season 8 promos in HD! As if all of this wasn't The Definition of Awesome, we will also be getting a preview of ABC's Once Upon A Time and doing a Q & A with creators, Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz. I HAVE QUESTIONS, PEOPLE: Will Belle ever wake up? Is Regina truly free from The Evil Queen? (I don't believe it, but I promise I will be finding out!)

Aladdin and Jafar make their Once Upon A Time debut in season 6's opening scene! Subscribe: http://goo.gl/mo7HqT
