Don't pay the ransom...we escaped!

My husband, Eric owns his own business and his office is here at home. I have been homeschooling the kids for the last eight years, so we too, obviously, work from home.

In fact, his office is really a corner of our converted school/studio/office space. So we all work a few feet from each other.

With all this enforced togetherness you'd think we'd get a little sick of each other. Actually, just the opposite is true. We have gotten so pro at working, playing and just plain living side-by-side that sometimes we need to leave our own area code just to reconnect.

We recently managed to escape for an entire weekend to beautiful, historic....Pasadena. Actually we had been invited to a birthday party for a dear friend who lives there and just decided to make a weekend out of it, but that's not important right now.

We spent most of our time eating and exploring and taking in the awesomeness that is The Huntington Library, particularly the Japanese garden.

See that willow on the right of the photo above?

Well, we found a spot on the grass just past that tree. We just stretched out on the grass and looked up at the sky and managed to lay peacefully and do nothing....together.

And you know what we found out?

That we're really pro at working, playing and just plain living side-by-side.

Sometimes you have to leave your own area code just to figure these things out. =D
